Six Crucial Wedding Tips
Congratulations, you’re now engaged! Planning a wedding can seem exciting in the beginning until it all starts to get really real and time begins to run out! Whether you’re planning a small or big celebration, be ready for some serious spending and loads of stress! I do however promise it is all so worth it! Coming from a bride herself, below are my top 6 wedding planning tips!
- 6. Wedding Portraits; take your wedding portraits before your big day. This will save you so much time and stress. My husband and I missed our reception because we were at the studio taking pictures. We had such a large party, it was very time consuming to photograph everyone. It’s best to plan wedding portraits before so your 1 special day doesn’t turn into a massive photoshoot. Bonus! It’s a win win if you schedule bridal trials the same day as your wedding portraits!
- 5. My previous tip leads to this one! Don’t have such a big wedding party. It will be so chaotic and way too much to try to keep up with. In the end you will feel like you didn’t give everyone the treatment they deserved because you cut yourself into way too many pieces! We had a HUGE wedding party; 14 groomsmen, 14 bridesmaids, 4 flower girls, 2 ring bearers, just MASSIVE! Not everyone was pictured! LOL
- 4. Speaking of wedding party, be sure to assign a task to as many people on your wedding party as possible. You know all those little things that seem so small that you think you can handle on your own? Guess what?! Those will add up quick and you WILL forget, 100% guaranteed! Speaking from personal experience, we took our wedding cake knives (along with other sentimental items) to the photography studio; then when it was time to cut the cake, we had no knives! You get the hint!
- 3. Guest List! This one is major for your budget! Keeping a wedding guest list is absolutely crucial! We had a big wedding, so big that we did not keep count of guests and we did not stay on top of our rsvps. We just expected and prepared for a very large count and so many people weren’t there! So sorry to burst your bubble, but yes, the people that you swear will be there, those are the ones that end up not showing up! In order to keep your day as special as possible, i highly suggest you only invite those truly special to you. It will save you thousands! Like really trust me on this one!
- 2. When it comes to setting a budget, be realistic about what you can actually afford. DO NOT GO OVERSPENDING! Girl math can get you in big trouble here sister! Your wedding day will go by so incredibly fast, don’t put your marriage in a hole after your 1 day is over. Your wedding should be a fairytale but when your wedding is over, it’s time for real life! We spent over $120k and I wish we had not, DON’T BE LIKE US!!! Luckily it did not put us in a hole but it was completely pointless to spend that much!
- 1. Finally the most important tip I can give, is mentally prepare yourself for something to go wrong. No matter how much you plan and prepare, there are things that will not go as planned. You need to be able to let those things slide and don’t loose focus of you and your hubby enjoying your wedding to the max! Take it all in, relax and enjoy your family, friends, food, drinks etc!
I hope the above tips help make your special day go by as smooth and enjoyable as possible!
As always, best wishes and much love,
-Simply Cindy
